Channelling Valentino

Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli, the designers behind Valentino said their Spring 2013 Ready to Wear collection was inspired by 1930’s to 1950’s Rome. The delicate fabrics, bias-cuts, slip dresses, colour palette, puffed sleeves, slinky blouses, full skirts… the collection has it all.

Although there is a slight nod to minimalism within the collection, they have managed to also give it elements of prettiness and femininity. Some of the silhouettes are completely covered up but are light and transparent, making them elegant yet provocative at the same time.

I particularly love the blush coloured dresses! This collection was part of the inspiration behind my choice of attire to my friends’ wedding last week.
